Dua Lipa:
Dua Lipa (born August 22, 1995, London, England) is a British-Albanian singer, model, and entrepreneur. The Grammy Award-winning artist rose to prominence with her distinctively husky voice and songs that mix 1970s disco, ’80s pop, and ’90s club music.
Early life and career
Dua Lipa was born in London to parents Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, who had fled Kosovo in 1992 at the start of the Bosnian War. Dua Lipa is the eldest of their children; she has a younger sister, Rina, and a younger brother, Gjin. The family returned to Kosovo when Lipa was 11 years old, but she moved back to London on her own at age 15. She attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School there and began pursuing a music career. In between waiting tables and working as a model, Lipa posted original songs and covers to YouTube and the music streaming service SoundCloud. She signed with an agent in 2013 and the following year signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Lipa’s music career gained traction in Europe with 2015 singles such as “New Love” and “Be the One.”
Debut album
In 2017, Lipa released her self-titled debut studio album, which is characterized by a combination of pop, dance, and R&B music. The single “New Rules” reached number one on the U.K. charts, while the song “IDGAF” earned her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. At the BRIT Awards, Lipa won best British female solo artist and British breakthrough act.
Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism
In 202,0, Lipa released her second studio album, Future Nostalgia. The singles “Levitating” and “Don’t Start Now” broke onto the U.S. charts, both peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2021, the album took home the Grammy for best pop vocal album and the BRIT Award for British album of the year. Lipa planned to tour in 2020 to promote Future Nostalgia, but she postponed her concerts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, she offered a live-streamed concert she called Studio 2054. The performance included guest appearances by Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal Football Club. The show was a huge success, with some five million viewers. In 2024, Lipa released her third studio album, Radical Optimism. Later that year, she was scheduled to headline Glastonbury Festival in England.
Collaborations
In addition to contributing vocals to Silk City’s “Electricity” in 2018, Lipa has frequently collaborated with other acts on such songs as “Prisoner” (2020) with Miley Cyrus; “Un Día (One Day)” (2020) with J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and Tainy; and “Sweetest Pie” (2022) with Megan Thee Stallion. She collaborated with Elton John on “Cold Heart” (2021), which remixes a few of his hits, including “Rocket Man” (1972) and “Sacrifice” (1989). The single reached number one on Billboard’s adult contemporary radio airplay chart.
Other projects
After the success of her first album, Lipa returned to Kosovo in 2018 and cofounded the Sunny Hill music festival with her father. Lipa, Action Bronson, and Martin Garrix headlined the inaugural event, and local musicians, including her father’s band, ODA, performed. Lipa planned for the festival to become an annual event, and in 201,9 it featured sets by Miley Cyrus and Calvin Harris. After being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival returned in 2022 in both Pristina, Kosovo, and Tirana, Albania. The 2023 festival was canceled, although the event was scheduled to return in 2024. In 2022, Lipa launched Service95, a platform comprising not only a website but also a weekly newsletter, the podcast Dua Lipa: At Your Service, and a book club. All four offer advice, recommendations, stories, and other forms of conversation. Lipa made her film debut in 2023 playing Mermaid Barbie in the hit Barbie movie. She also released the single “Dance the Night” as a part of the film’s soundtrack; the single was nominated for two Grammys, including song of the year. That same year, Lipa collaborated with Donatella Versace on a women’s summer collection called “La Vacanza.”

She became known to Western audiences through her role in the American TV series Quantico (2015–18). In 201,6, she was awarded the Padma Shri, fourth-highest civilian honor.
Early life and family
Chopra was born into a Punjabi family in southern Bihar state (in the area that became part of Jharkhand state in 2000). Her parents were medical doctors serving in the armed forces, and the family moved frequently throughout her childhood. While visiting family in the United States in 1995, she decided to stay with an aunt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attend school there. The following year, she went to live with an uncle in New York City and later in Newton, Massachusetts. Upon returning to India in 1998, Chopra began preparing for an education in aerospace engineering. In the meantime, her family saw an advertisement for the Miss India pageant and submitted her photographs to the organizers.
Miss World winner and acting debut.t
The 2000 Miss India competition proved to be the gateway to Chopra’s celebrity. She was named first runner-up and went on to participate in that year’s Miss World contest, where she was crowned the winner. She was quickly cast in four feature-length films in India but was dropped from two of the projects after producers learned that her nasal bridge had collapsed during a surgical polyp removal. One project, Thamizhan (2002; “Tamil”), retained her as the female lead. Thamizhan was her debut and, as of 2025, also her only Tamil film. For her first Hindi-language movie, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003), the director recast her from a leading role to a supporting one after learning of her surgery.
Rise to prominence and Bollywood stardom.
In 200,3, Chopra appeared in her first Bollywood box-office success, the romantic drama Andaaz (“Style”). In 2014, a senior casting executive at the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) reportedly traveled to Chopra’s home in India to persuade her to sign a deal for television work. As a result, she appeared in Quantico (2015–18), playing the leading role of an FBI recruit turned suspect. Shakira:
Shakira (born February 2, 1977, Barranquilla, Colombia) is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician, and dancer who built a successful career in both Spanish- and English-speaking markets to become one of the most popular Latin American recording artists of the early 21st century.
Background and early career
Shakira, the daughter of a Lebanese father and a Colombian mother, started belly dancing at an early age. By age 10, she had begun writing songs and participating in talent competitions. A local theater producer helped her land an audition with a Sony Corp. executive in 1990, and Shakira was subsequently signed to a record deal. Her first two albums, Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993), were only moderately successful, however. After taking a break from recording to act in the Colombian telenovela El Oasis, Shakira impressively resumed her music career with Pies descalzos (1995). The album produced several hits, including “Estoy aquí,” “Pienso en ti,” and “Un poco de amor.”
Crossover success
In 1998, Shakira released ¿Dónde están los ladrones?, which includes several memorable singles. She notably won Latin Grammy Awards for best female pop vocal performance (“Ojos así”) and for best rock vocal performance (“Octavo día”). She then focused her efforts on establishing herself in the English-speaking market and achieving mainstream success in the United States. In 2001, her album MTV Unplugged (2000) won the Grammy Award for best Latin pop album, and she released her first English-language album, Laundry Service, that same year. Although her English-language songwriting skills were questioned by some (Shakira wrote all her own lyrics on the album), Laundry Service sold more than 13 million copies worldwide and reached number three on the Billboard album chart. Two of its singles—“Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes”—became top 10 hits in the United States. Shakira continued her crossover success in 2005 with the release of the Spanish-language Fijación oral, vol. 1 in June and the English-language Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 in November. Both albums debuted in the top five in the United States, and her single “Hips Don’t Lie” (featuring Wyclef Jean) topped charts around the world in 2006. It was accompanied by a music video that showcased Shakira’s belly dancing amid a Carnival setting. At that year’s Latin Grammy Awards, she captured the awards for song of the year and record of the year for the single “La tortura.” Fijación oral, vol. 1 was named album of the year as well as best female pop vocal album; it also won a Grammy Award for best Latin rock/alternative album. A live concert recording, Oral Fixation Tour, followed in 2007. Also, that year Shakira performed in Hamburg as part of Live Earth, a worldwide concert series organized to bring attention to climate change and environmental sustainability.
Other projects and charity work
Shakira lent her voice to the character of the Gazelle in the animated film Zootopia (2016) and appeared as a judge on the reality show Dancing with Myself (2022). She has also devoted considerable time and energy to social causes. In 200,3, she became a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, traveling internationally to raise awareness of the struggles of children in less-developed countries. She also created the Pies Descalzos Foundation, which focuses on helping children displaced by violence in Colombia. For her next English-language album, She Wolf (2009), Shakira adopted an electro-pop sound. The following year, she scored another international hit with “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” a collaboration with South African band Freshlyground, after the song was chosen as the official anthem of the 2010 World Cup. The track also appears on her breezily eclectic Sale el sol (2010), which earned a Latin Grammy for best female pop vocal album.
The Voice, 2020 Super Bowl performance, and later releases
In 2013–14, Shakira was a coach on the American televised singing competition The Voice. She returned to recording albums with Shakira (2014), which features duets with Rihanna and country singer Blake Shelton, one of her fellow coaches on The Voice. That same year, Shakira performed the closing ceremony for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Her next album, El Dorado (2017), won the Grammy Award for best Latin pop album and the Latin Grammy for best contemporary pop vocal album. El Dorado’s standout track was the single “La bicicleta,” a duet with Carlos Vives that won Latin Grammys for best record of the year and best song of the year. In 2020, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez performed in the Super Bowl halftime show. Their sensational performance showcased several Latin American music styles, including salsa, rumba, mambo, and samba. Shakira, in particular, was commended for bringing the mapalé and champeta, two Afro-Colombian dances that she performed, to a world stage. Shakira had several hit singles in the next few years, including “Don’t Wait Up” (2021) and “Don’t You Worry” (2022), the latter of which paired her with the Black Eyed Peas. In 2,02,4, she released her first album in seven years, Las mujeres ya no lloran, which features several songs that had proved themselves as hits in 2022 and 2023. These included “Te felicito” with Rauw Alejandro and a searing diss track aimed at her ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué following their breakup called “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap; the latter song was a global chart-topper and a top 10 hit in the United States. In 2025 Las mujeres ya no lloran won the Grammy for best Latin pop album.
Bella Hadid:
Bella Hadid (born October 9, 1996, Washington, D.C., U.S.) is an American model best known as the face of the fashion company Dior.
Early life, family, and education
Bella Hadid was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She is the daughter of Mohamed Hadid, a Palestinian real estate developer, and Yolanda Hadid (née van den Herik), a former Dutch model. She has four siblings: Marielle, Alana, Gigi, and Anwar; the latter three also have careers in the fashion industry. They were raised Muslim, and, in a 2017 interview with Porter magazine, Hadid said she continued to be a proud Muslim.
Hadid began horseback riding at age 3, and she competed in horsemanship until she was 15. She was diagnosed in 2012 with chronic Lyme disease, which contributed to brain fog, anxiety, exhaustion, and joint pain, forcing her to give up her dream of competing in the Olympics. In 2014, she began attending Parsons School of Design in New York City to study photography, but she soon left to focus on modeling, which she had recently taken up, after signing with the agency IMG Models.
Modeling career
Hadid began modeling at age 16 with a commercial project for Flynn Skye, a women’s clothing line. But her career took off after she walked for Desigual, a Spanish fashion label, at the fall New York Fashion Week in 2014, and months later appeared on the runway for Tom Ford’s collection. She was soon walking at other major fashion events, including the fashion weeks in London and Paris. In late 2015, as she made the cover of magazines such as Seventeen and appeared in others, including Elle, she also made her debut with Chanel. In 2016, Hadid shared the runway with her sister Gigi for the first time, walking for Chanel Haute Couture. Hadid has indicated that she and Gigi have rarely had to compete with each other in the industry. Hadid signed her first beauty campaign contract in 2016 as the brand ambassador for Dior Beauty. She became one of the most recognizable faces in modeling, as she walked in high-profile shows for numerous fashion houses and boosted their sales. In 20,22, the brands she walked for averaged a nearly 30 percent boost in the attention they garnered on social media. Her accolades include several nominations for Model of the Year, a title she was awarded by GQ in 2016 and by the British Fashion Awards in 2022.
