1: Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez (born July 22, 1992, Grand Prairie, Texas, U.S.) is an American actress and singer who first won legions of young fans as the winsome star of the Disney television series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–12) and as a pop vocalist. She later transitioned to adult roles, notably Mabel Mora in the TV series Only Murders in the Building (2021– ). Gomez also founded (2020) the cosmetics company Rare Beauty.
Wizards of Waverly Place and early films
Gomez, who was named after the popular Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, was raised in suburban Dallas. Inspired by her mother, an amateur actress, Gomez auditioned for a role on the PBS children’s television series Barney & Friends and, as a result, appeared regularly on the program from 2002 to 2004. After making her big-screen debut in the family movie Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), she auditioned for the Disney Channel, which eventually led to a guest spot on the TV series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
In 2007, Gomez was cast as Alex Russo, a mischievous tomboy with magical powers, on a new Disney sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place. The show, for which she also sang the theme song, became an instant hit among the preteen set, and she earned favorable comparisons to the channel’s leading ingenue, Miley Cyrus.

While continuing to star in Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez acted in various tween-oriented videos and TV movies and provided a voice for the animated feature Horton Hears a Who! (2008). She then landed lead roles in the theatrical film Ramona and Beezus (2010), which was based on a children’s novel by Beverly Cleary, and the romantic comedy Monte Carlo (2011). Gomez departed from her family-friendly image with a role as a college student seeking adventure in Florida in the lurid Spring Breakers (2012).
Hotel Transylvania and Only Murders in the Building
Gomez then portrayed the girlfriend of a college student who is killed in a shooting on campus in the drama Rudderless (2014) and a sorority sister in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016). Gomez also voiced a character in the animated Hotel Transylvania (2012) and its sequels (2015, 2018, 2022) as well as Dolittle (2020). In 2019, she appeared in Jim Jarmusch’s zombie movie The Dead Don’t Die and in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York.

Gomez portrayed the wife of a Mexican drug kingpin (played by Karla Sofía Gascón) who undergoes gender affirmation surgery.
Music career
Gomez ventured into music as the frontwoman of Selena Gomez & the Scene, an electronic-influenced pop band that produced several dance hits. The group released the albums Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011) before announcing its separation in 2012.
Gomez then forged a solo career with Stars Dance (2013), which featured the seductive single “Come & Get It.” Subsequent solo albums included Revival (2015) and Rare (2020), the latter of which yielded the hit ballad “Lose You to Love Me.”
Personal Life and Rare Beauty
As Gomez transitioned into adulthood, her fame was undoubtedly magnified by a romantic relationship with pop singer Justin Bieber; the couple dated on and off from about 2010 to 2018. She was also known for her philanthropic work, much of it accomplished through UNICEF, which in 2009 appointed her a goodwill ambassador. In 2015, Gomez revealed that she had been diagnosed with lupus. As a result of complications from the disease, she had a kidney transplant in 2017. During this time, Gomez was also candid about her struggles with depression and anxiety, and in 2020, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In the documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me (2022), she discussed her mental health and her struggles with fame. In 2020, Gomez launched Rare Beauty, a cosmetics company. Four years later, it was valued at some $2 billion, and Gomez’s personal net worth was thought to be more than $1 billion.
2: Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner (born August 10, 1997, Los Angeles, California, U.S.) is an American television personality and entrepreneur known for her appearances in reality shows chronicling the lives of her and her family, including Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007–21), Life of Kylie (2017), and The Kardashians (2022– ).
She is also known for her multiple brands, including Kylie Cosmetics, the financial success of which led to her being named “the youngest self-made billionaire ever” by Forbes magazine. Jenner is the youngest of two children of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner; her elder sister is model Kendall Jenner.
She has several half-siblings from Caitlyn’s previous marriages—Burton, Brandon, Cassandra, and Brody—and from Kris’s—Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob—with whom she starred on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

In 2007, Kylie’s elder sister Kim reached national fame when a sex tape was leaked featuring her and her then-boyfriend, musician Ray J. The resulting notoriety helped Kim and her family secure Keeping Up with the Kardashians, an E! Entertainment Television reality show following the daily lives of the four Kardashian siblings, parents Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, and Kylie and her sister Kendall. Kylie, the youngest of the siblings, was 10 years old when the show premiered.
She continued to appear on the show until it ended in 2021 and reappeared with her sisters and mother in The Kardashians, which premiered on Hulu in 2022. In 2017 ,she starred in her own spin-off show, Life of Kylie, which aired for one season.
In 2012, she launched a fashion line with Kendall at clothing retailer PacSun. Three years later, the sisters collaborated again, this time with British brand Topshop and Australian brand Forever New. The duo also released a young adult dystopian fiction book together, though the novel was actually written by a ghostwriter under the sisters’ creative direction. In 2014, Jenner came under public scrutiny for denying that she had used lip fillers—injected substances that increase lip volume—despite a noticeable change in her lips’ appearance, saying that she achieved the look through makeup.
Her lips even spurred the viral #KylieJennerChallenge, in which participants used a small glass container to create a vacuum seal to temporarily plump their lips. However, in a 2015 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she admitted to using fillers, saying,“I have temporary lip fillers, it’s just an insecurity of mine, and it’s what I wanted to do.”She cites her insecurity around her lips as the catalyst for creating her highly successful makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics. The company’s inaugural product was a “lip kit” that included matching liquid lipstick and lip liner. When the lip kits first went on sale in November 2015, they sold out in less than a minute. She later expanded the brand to include other cosmetics, such as eye products and highlighters.
The merchandise became available in brick-and-mortar locations of beauty retailer Ulta in late 2018. Jenner later launched Kylie Skin, a skincare line, and Kylie Baby, a hair care and skin care line for babies and children. In 2019, Jenner, at 21 years old, was named “the youngest self-made billionaire ever” by Forbes magazine.
The title drew criticism, with some saying that her famous family and connections contradicted the assertion that her fortune was “self-made.” However, after 51 percent of Kylie Cosmetics was sold to publicly traded beauty company Coty in 2020, Forbes released an investigation stating that Jenner was not actually a billionaire and alleging that she and her family had exaggerated claims of her wealth to the magazine, even speculating that the Jenners had provided the magazine with “tax returns that were likely forged.”
Representatives of Kylie and Kris Jenner denied the accusations. In addition to her financial notoriety, Jenner has also gained a large social media following. In December 2021,Jenner was the most followed woman on Instagram; however, in February 2023 ,that title was usurped by singer and actress Selena Gomez. Jenner has also received media attention for her romantic relationships over the years, including a controversial relationship with rapper Tyga that was rumored to have begun when Jenner was 17 and the rapper was 24.
The couple publicly revealed their relationship in August 2015, when Jenner turned 18, and officially ended the relationship in 2017. In February 2018 ,she gave birth to daughter Stormi Webster, her first child with rapper Travis Scott (original name Jacques Bermon Webster II). In February 2022, she gave birth to the couple’s second child, a son. The pair initially announced that their son’s name was Wolf Jacques Webster ,but later changed his name to Aire Webster.

Return to acting and eternal sunshine
Grande’s acting took a backseat as her music career took off, but she had occasional roles, such as in the TV series Scream Queens (2015) and a televised live production of the musical Hairspray (2016), in which she played the part of Penny Pingleton. In 2021, however, she became a coach on the televised singing competition The Voice.
That same year, she acted in the film Don’t Look Up, a satiric science-fiction comedy costarring Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, and Jennifer Lawrence. She received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Galinda in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked (2024), earning an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.

In early 2007, a sex tape featuring Kim and her then boyfriend, R&B singer Ray J was leaked online; she sued the video’s distributor and later received an out-of-court settlement. The attention helped the Kardashian family land a reality TV series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which followed their daily lives, including Bruce Jenner’s later transition into a woman.
The show premiered on the E! channel in October 2007 and was a ratings success. All the family members attained varying levels of celebrity, with Kim—who was known for her good looks and curvaceous figure—becoming a pop culture phenomenon. Although some derided her popularity, alleging that she was simply famous for being famous, her canny self-promotion—which also included a strong social media presence—helped create a hugely profitable brand.
In addition to endorsement deals, Kardashian was involved in numerous business ventures, including a series of fitness DVDs, a credit card, various beauty products, and a game app that allowed users to create a celebrity. Its follow-up album, The Writing’s on the Wall (1999), earned the group two Grammy Awards and sold more than eight million copies in the United States. Survivor (2001), the group’s third album, reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Solo superstarAfter Destiny’s Child broke up, Beyoncé released her first solo album in 2003. With her powerful voice and charisma, Beyoncé was clearly the leader of the group and wrote hit songs for Destiny’s Child, such as the saucy “Bootylicious.”
Eventually, the group parted ways to pursue individual projects. Beyoncé used her songwriting talents to pen her first solo album, Dangerously in Love (2003). The album debuted to rave reviews, and, aided by the exuberant single “Crazy in Love,” which features rapper Jay-Z, it topped charts around the world.
In 2004 ,Beyoncé won five Grammy Awards, including best contemporary R&B album and best female R&B vocal performance. Destiny’s Child reunited in 2004 to release Destiny Fulfilled. In 2008, she and Jay-Z married, and the union made them one of the top-earning couples in the entertainment industry. Later that year ,Beyoncé released the double album I Am…Sasha Fierce. Whereas the first half (I Am) captures an introspective mood, the second (Sasha Fierce) contains songs better suited to the dance floor.
The album as a whole generated several hits, including the assertive “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and it contributed to Beyoncé’s dominance of the 2010 Grammy Awards. Her six awards, which included those for song of the year, best female pop vocal performance, and best contemporary R&B album, amounted to the most Grammys collected by a female artist in a single night. (The record was matched by pop singer Adele in 2012.)
